9 March 2018

Hull are set to top the ice hockey charts this weekend after only a year in the NIHL (Northern Ice Hockey League).

Hull Pirates take on rivals Sheffield Steeldogs this weekend in an ice hockey battle.

The NIHL  season comes to an end in what promises to be a massive weekend for Hull Pirates.

They face rivals Sheffield in their final two matches of the season.

The NIHL North One (Moralee) title battle culminates in an all Yorkshire face off.

This starts on Saturday at 7.30pm with an away match at iceSheffield

The grand final takes place in Hull’s own Ice Arena on Sunday night.

Hull are currently head of the division with 60 points.

Both teams have won 26 of their 34 matches already played.

If Hull Pirates win one of the two matches they will become champions.

Head Coach, Jason Hewitt, said:

“It’s huge for hockey in Hull. We have a committed fan base who deserve success and the players are putting everything on the line for that to happen.”

Hewitt is a former Sheffield Steelers forward.
