The cold weather has caused delays and build ups in traffic and many schools have been shut since Wednesday. As well as the SWEP (severe weather emergency protocol) being put in place since Monday, this protocol helps to provide extra support towards rough sleepers in the cold weather.
More snow on its way
Storm Emma is now hitting parts of the UK and it is bringing up to 40mph gales as long as more snow. Hull is set to get more snow with a yellow weather warning in place for Friday and Saturday. As well as all of this there is also flood warnings for the North-East Coast.
There are road closures surrounding Hull still but the city centre is relatively snow free and accessible now. Gritters have been working throughout the night to ensure that are roads are as safe as possible and most public footpaths have now also been cleared of snow and ice.
Going into the weekend the highest temperature of today will reach one degrees and temperatures are set to drop again over night to minus two. However from Sunday temperatures will rise again and make way for better weather throughout the week.
